Fleming lived in Sidmouth for some 20 years and is buried at Salcombe Regis church.
Professor of Electrical Engineering in London 1885 - 1936. He worked with Dewar on electrical resistance at low temperatures. He invented the thermionic valve, and contributed much to the development of the electric lamp and electric lighting
