Sir Edward Frankland FRS

Born: 18 January 1825 in Churchtown, Lancs
Died: 9 August 1899 in Norway


He suceeded Faraday at the Royal Institution in 1863. He gained the Copley medal in 1894. In 1868 with Lockyer he discovered helium in the sun's atmosphere. He was an authority on sanitation and river pollution.
