Index to Statues in the Oxford University Museum
There are 28 statues in the court of the Oxford University Museum, Parks Road,
Oxford built in Victorian times, many are botanists or medical people.
The list below is my selection of those who might be considered physicists.

- 1. Humphrey Davy (1778 - 1829) discovered several elements and invented the miner's safety lamp
- 3. Roger Bacon (c1214 - c1294 ) optics and promoting experimentation
- 5. Aristotle (384 - 322 B.C.)
- 16. Isaac Newton (1642 - 1727)
- 17. Galileo Gallei (1564 - 1642)
- 19. William Buckland (1784 - 1856) geologist who discovered dinosaurs
- 20 Gottfried Leibnitz (1646 1716)
- 21. Hans Oersted (1771 - 1851) discovered electricty and magnetism are related
- 22. John Phillips (1800 - 1874) geologist, 1st Keeper of the University Museum
- 23. William Smith (1769 - 1839) one of the 'fathers of geology' created 1st geological map of Great Britain
- 24. James Watt ( 1736 - 1819) Engineer improved efficiency of steam engines
- 25. George Stephenson (1781 - 1848) Engineer who worked on steam powere locomotiev and devised effective rail tracks
- 26. Sir Joseph Prestwich (1812 1883)Geologist and archaeologist
